On Wednesday 12th June 2024 pupils from New Barn School, Broadbridge Heath were guests of Golden Lion Children’s Trust at Diggerland Rochester.
This special site is advertised as a place where “children can ride, drive and operate REAL diggers, dumpers and other full-size construction machinery; ride Dodgems and Go Karts; take an off-road ride on Ground shuttle; enjoy views from SkyShuttle; or take a turn on SpinDizzy!”
Our thanks to Alex Hillman who during his year as Captain encouraged members of his local Golf Club to raise funds for GLCT, which made it possible for this group of children to enjoy such an exciting visit.
These photos show how much fun the children had.
And our thanks to the Diggerland team who worked with the GLCT group the whole time.
One parent wrote to GLCT:
“I wanted to contact you as my child attends New Barn School, who recently had the joy of visiting Diggerland, arranged and funded by yourselves.
I just wanted to say thank you so, so much for such a wonderful gift – he had a fab day. Trips like this are so important for the children as they help to build confidence and create memories. It was incredible for the children to have unique access on a special day, as it means their need for things to be less busy, noisy and overwhelming can be met – which in turn means it is actually accessible to them. Days out when places are busy and crowded are often impossible.
Thank you for all that you do.”
