GLCT were invited to take a group of primary school children to enjoy a day at the South of England Showground to ‘Connect with the Countryside’.
This annual event is by invitation only (not open to the general public)arranged by the South of England Society and is a chance for children to see and learn skills that we are fortunate to have in our rural areas.
2500 children are able to spend an amount of time in the different zones, where they can try the skills for themselves if they want to, and handle the animals if they are interested. This is often the first time the children have had a chance to do such things, and the careful help they receive from the artisans and experts really helps their confidence, as well as being great fun.
