At the end of December 2024 we received the shocking news that the man who had brought Father Christmas to life on many GLCT projects had died unexpectedly.
Unknown to many people Mick had stepped into the role for our charity for a number of years – both at the GLCT Late Christmas Party and on the Bluebell Railway ‘Santa Special’.
He had the rare quality of being very convincing as the traditional festive gentleman – children of all ages accepted him, with quite a few adults believing in his character, for a short while at least.
His real identity even puzzled a number of his former colleagues!

His kind help and advice, together with his gentleness towards children with special needs, will be very much missed.
