Each year at the South of England Showground a day of competition takes place
“in recognition of Jim Green’s lifelong interest in the education and training of young people
with learning difficulties”.
Golden Lion Children’s Trust is delighted to support this event.
Teams choose which elements to compete in and start planning from September
eg planting bulbs in containers; making models, sculptures etc and creating evidence of work.
Practical tasks on the day vary from planting a window box to clearing and preparing a flower bed;
or identifying well-known plants, flowers, etc.
In the final section each team creates a scarecrow, with sketches, etc showing the planning
stages of their design.
GLCT congratulates pupils from Manor Green College, Ifield who won first prize for their
sculpture of a woodland animal and Woodlands Meed, Burgess Hill pupils for winning
first prize for their model depicting a rural scene.
